The thing I love most about light is that it continually changes. You can visit the same place at the same time of day in different seasons of the year and the light will look and feel completely different. This holds especially true for Southern California. Sometimes the light is bright gold, sometimes a warm amber, and other times a soft blue green. I’m hard pressed to pick a favorite because I love the light in all it’s forms, especially on film. On this spring day in Coto de Caza, California, the light was completely new. It reflected the browns of the trees and highlighted the greens of the freshly grown grass. Maya and Brian, who came all the way from Virginia for some California sun, look romantic and cozy in the middle of everything.
